RoseRed and the Butterflies - Just A Glimmer
Finally, a collection of songs from best described as a tree pixie with a red hat you’d find dancing around the forest talking to the squirrels. Is this the music that such character would create? Possibly so. Does this get you interested in listening to this fantastical album? It should do. This collection of songs is a fantastic different listen to the norm. Here are a few of my personal hilights;
*Old Black Shoes* - a flowing melody that weaves in and out of the beat. *Turtle Race Turtle Power* has such great imagery and such a catchy song you can imagine driving off in the distance too in some 1930’s motorcycle with cart and goggles. Don’t ask me why, it just creates that image…and at that; if music can create an image you know it’s good. *Ticket to Oz* creates a summery vibe that that makes me feel like I know Australia. *Fit of Silence* is also another favourite and a great album ender with all those elements of a grand closing floating into a starry sky. I couldn’t place this at a better place in this quirky collection of songs. Go and see RoseRed live - she’s such an entertaining performer and will have you humming all the way home wanting to hear more. The list is endless - I could write about every song but that would spoil the surprise of such a kooky and charmingly catchy songs that should belong on your iPods for those morning’s into work where you need a smile.

In the children’s story of The Elves And The Shoemaker, the shoemaker awoke to find his little shop full of newly made shoes courtesy of the elves. Had he owned a recording studio, rather than a shoe shop, then what would have greeted him in the morning would probably have been this album.
Skipping along through a meadow of catchy tunes with a spritely voice, Rosered sounds like she’s enjoying it. With her chirpy voice full of life and beautifully balanced by the cello on most of the tracks, you can’t help but feel better generally. The production sounds crisp and clear with all the instruments having their say without drowning her out.
“My soul’s too big for my body to hold and I’m struggling to keep it in..” she sings on the title track, and this album is evidence of that as she pours her life and heart out to a set of tunes guaranteed to chase away the nasty things in life.
